The project ran between September 2017 and January 2021.
The project was part of the innovation project IPOS – Swedish wood – Innovation potential for the bio-based society. The overall focus of Demand driven finishing of Swedish wood has been on the importance of the forest – wood working value chain for the climate change mitigation by the increased use of wood as a fossil free material for products and sustainable building.
For the project part sawmill technology (WP1 and WP2), has the digital development been in focus and progressed the area to improve the utilization of timber resources, traceability from the forest, to the sawmill and to wood products.
In the project part for materials and processes (WP3 to WP7) several new concepts have been developed to improve the performance of the sawn wood material for large scale building applications.
For the part project concerning wood drying (WP8) which is considered to be a bottle for quite many sawmill findings have shown better production processes and strategies for more efficient and fast drying operations with maintained quality of the sawn wood.
In the project part for wood cutting processing (WP9) has the underlaying technology and knowledge for saw teeth operations and the geometry of band saw blades been successfully revised and new findings presented.
